Today is the 246th anniversary of the day our founding father John Adams was sworn in as the first US Vice President. Adams famously once said in a letter, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” These words remain as a resounding warning for all Americans to keep Christian principles and morality at the heart of every level of government.
Too many elected officials too often today strive to remove the remnants of our Christian heritage from every aspect of public life. John Adams’ wise words remind us that Christian principles made our nation first a possibility, and then a reality. Each generation is vested with zealously safeguarding that truth and passing it on to the next generation.
