Massive raids by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) over the spring and summer have become quite the center of attention for the leftist media and Democrat politicians. Despite the left’s squawking, these raids on job sites and in public places across the nation have become necessary because many state and local authorities, particularly in California (but also other states), have refused to allow ICE access to arrested criminals for deportation purposes. Despite the continued opposition from liberal states and cities, the Trump administration is pushing forward.
You see, these mass deportations really do have an effect across all of America, both economically and socially. Most illegal aliens don’t speak English at home, and their children aren’t learning English (our official language) or assimilating into our culture. Public schools are furthered burdened by obtaining scarce educational resources geared towards non-English-speakers, all while American children’ aren’t acquiring basic reading and math skills. And not only education but across the growing welfare state and even the voter rolls, millions of illegal aliens living in Democrat power centers skew the voter base and taxpayer funded benefits, all at the expense of hardworking American citizens.
Jobs, too, are affected positively for Americans. The meat packing industry, which was the subject of a particularly huge ICE raid this year in Omaha, pays more than minimum wage in most places, but employers can pay illegal aliens less than Americans, which is why many business owners have looked the other way as illegals fill jobs in their companies. The hospitality industry too will soon become more attractive to Americans with the new law eliminating the taxation of tips and overtime pay. These benefits should flow to American workers rather than to illegal aliens. Americans flood the Omaha meat packing plant with job applications within days of a ICE raid that swept up 80 illegals.
The Trump Administration understands that the illegal immigration crisis compels ICE and our Border Patrol to step up, not shrink away, from the biggest problem that grips our America.
