It’s September 17. Did you know that federal law makes it mandatory for all schools to teach about the Constitution on Constitution Day, which is today, or during Constitution Week if it falls on a weekend? Check with your local public school and see how they’re planning to comply with this federal law. This holiday should be as important a national holiday as Independence Day!

Our U.S. Constitution is the oldest and longest-lasting constitution in all the world’s history. Most Western democracies have constitutions that are lists of what government can do for individuals.  Our U.S. Constitution sets forth what government cannot do to individuals.  That’s the fundamental difference.  And that’s why our Constitution is the fountainhead of our great liberties — religious, political, and economic. The American philosophy is that government is the servant of the people, not our master.  President Ronald Reagan expressed this concept when he said that government is the problem, not the solution.

Phyllis Schlafly Eagles has many splendid teaching tools that would be quite appropriate for schools to use during Constitution Week, and even for homeschoolers and adults, too!  Phyllis Schlafly focused much of her lifetime of work on defending the U.S. Constitution. From her daily and weekly writings, to her books such as The Supremacists, to even study programs such as one on the courts using her Supremacists book – the brand new digital archives being built at www.PhyllisSchlafly.com contains some of the best information to help you celebrate this Constitution Week.

I highly recommend that you observe Constitution Week by inviting your friends to join you in discussions over Phyllis Schlafly’s body of work on the Constitution. Visit us online or give us a call to get your copies of Phyllis’s records, writings, books, and study guides! Especially in the era of rampant judicial activism, you must be ready to help us defend the Constitution! Join us tomorrow on this program as we continue the discussion and history lessons of this amazing founding document, and visit us online to find even more on this topic from Phyllis Schlafly’s personal archives!

The Constitution is a document worth celebrating, AND worth defending! Tomorrow as Phyllis Schlafly will warn us about one of the grave threats to the Constitution, and what you can do to stop it. Unfortunately, this isn’t a problem just from the political left, but misguided conservatives as well. Visit PhyllisSchlafly.com for more resources and to sign up for our emails, that’s PhyllisSchlafly.com. Thanks and join us next time for the Phyllis Schlafly Report.
