A recent School Choice Wisconsin report found that choice students in all three of the choice programs—Milwaukee, Racine, and statewide—especially at the eighth-grade level, scored significantly higher on the Forward exam in both Math and Reading. Choice students enrolled in private schools participating in the statewide program showed the biggest gap, scoring 24% higher in Reading in the eighth grade and 13.9% higher in math than their peers in public schools.

These scores among choice students help demonstrate the success of our state’s school choice program. When parents, not the state, have control over their child’s education, students thrive. This kind of information should give impetus to soon making school choice available to all families regardless of their zip code or income. That would be true education freedom.
