In 1988, President Ronald Reagan first declared October Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month in the US. His purpose was to set aside a time each year to remember the children who died either in the womb or shortly after birth, grieve with their parents and families, and find ways to prevent this loss in the future. In keeping with the month’s national recognition, Governor Evers signed his yearly proclamation making today, October 15th, Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day in Wisconsin.

Governor Evers, although staunchly pro-abortion, has rightly chosen to recognize that the loss of a pregnancy, from the moment of conception to birth, is the loss of a human being. It’s time everyone recognizes that the difference between a miscarriage or some other natural pregnancy loss is intention. Abortion is the intentional killing of an unborn child; the others are not intentional.
