State lawmakers recently proposed a bill to make Dual Enrollment, a program that allows high school students to earn discounted college credits and high school credits at the same time, a realistic option for more Wisconsin students. Over the last ten years, the number of students participating in dual enrollment has almost doubled, and lawmakers are hopeful the bill will give all students the opportunity to enroll. The new bill would make the program more accessible and require colleges to accept at least thirty-six dual enrollment credits.

College debt is a serious factor many young people consider when making life decisions such as getting married or buying a home after graduation. Making dual enrollment available for more Wisconsin students will help young people get a head start and ease some of the burdens that come with paying for a college education which could encourage more to marry and start a family.
