This past Friday, Governor Evers vetoed Assembly Bill 5, legislation that would have given parents greater transparency about what their children are being taught in Wisconsin classrooms. AB 5 would have required schools to make curriculum materials and lesson plans accessible to parents within two weeks of a written request. Instead, the governor’s veto keeps parents in the dark, limiting their ability to guide their children’s education.
Parents are a child’s first and most important teachers. When families cannot see what is being taught, it undermines parental authority and accountability in schools. Transparency in education isn’t just about information — it’s about trust, and ensuring our children are learning truth, not ideology.
