On Monday, the US Supreme Court turned down a case challenging the constitutional right to same-sex marriage which was decided in the 2015 Obergefell v. Hodges decision. The case was brought to the Court by Kim Davis, a former county clerk who was penalized for refusing to give marriage licenses to same-sex couples. The Court’s decision is a disappointing outcome for advocates of traditional marriage.

We are disappointed in the Court’s decision. When gay marriage was legalized in 2015, supporters argued that the decision was harmless. Unfortunately, that’s untrue. Over the last ten years this decision has had disastrous consequences for society, especially for children. We hope the High Court revisits this topic in the future.
