The Heritage Foundation’s Education Freedom Report Card ranks Wisconsin 47th on academic transparency, meaning parents must struggle to find out what their children are learning at school. In 2021, Governor Evers could have changed that by allowing the public, including parents, to view instructional materials online, but he vetoed the bill in its entirety. In addition, Wisconsin ranked 34th on teacher freedom, meaning the state regulates the innovative options teachers can provide students.

We need pro-parent educational policies in Wisconsin. Schools should be totally transparent about what they are teaching or promoting in a school. Nothing should be kept from parents—and finding out information about what’s being taught ought to be easy for parents, not difficult. It’s past time for schools to recognize the preeminence of parents.
