The abortion debate continues to rage, with some pro-lifers calling for boycotts of the Republican party. But here’s the truth: abortion is not a political issue, and it never has been, writes Peachy Keenan, American Mind contributing editor and author of Domestic Extremist: A Practical Guide to Winning the Culture War. No legislation, federal or state, will end it. Like gambling or pornography, humans will continue to sin. The focus shouldn’t be on angry bans or boycotts but on the individual standing at the clinic, considering an abortion.

What if, instead of emphasizing the legality of abortion, we made the argument about how amazing babies are? We’ve become so clinical about life in the womb, reducing the discussion to terms like “fetus” and “viability.” But what if we connected that unborn child to the beauty of life? Imagine a campaign highlighting babies’ joy, laughter, and sheer cuteness, making it clear that this isn’t just an “embryo” but a future human with chubby cheeks and a toothless grin.

The reality is that babies are nature’s most effective survival trick. Their adorableness is designed to trigger dopamine, ensuring they are loved and cared for. If we could channel that same emotional power into our message, maybe we’d reach the undecided woman contemplating abortion.

Meanwhile, stories like the one about scientists grafting baby scalps onto rats for experiments are downright horrifying. This kind of grotesque abuse of life should serve as a wake-up call. It’s not just about stopping abortion—it’s about reclaiming the sanctity of life and reminding people of the joy that babies bring. We’ve spent enough time focusing on the abortion industry. Let’s put the spotlight where it belongs: on the babies themselves. They deserve it.
