The passage of Act Ten in twenty eleven reined in collective bargaining for public employee unions, a move that Republican lawmakers estimate has saved taxpayers over sixteen point eight billion dollars. Act Ten has been upheld in multiple federal court cases. We anticipate this ruling will be appealed.
Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty warns that overturning Act Ten puts taxpayers on the hook for billions of dollars and opens the door for judges to undermine the legislative process. This should concern all taxpaying citizens. We have three equal branches of government with built in checks and balances for a good reason. The judicial branch needs to stay in its lane.
