Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
We are learners from the moment we’re born until the day we die. We are instructed, shaped, and conditioned by processes that we may hardly notice. We learn attitudes, outlooks, values, and understandings of our world, of ourselves, and of others from a myriad of sources—such as parents, peers, friends, significant others, communities, and culture. They all have a part in shaping us. Now, not all that we learn from these sources will bear the stamp of the Kingdom of God. And that’s why God’s Word is so important to us as new creations in Christ. The Word of God is about life in another Kingdom. And learning to live as people who belong to the Kingdom of God in a broken world is a constant challenge. We need the God’s Word to “be transformed by the renewing of [our] mind[s],” as Paul tells us in Romans.
