President Dwight D. Eisenhower was a heroic American who epitomized the unwavering spirit that makes our country great. As Supreme Allied Commander in Europe, Eisenhower masterminded the D-Day invasion. Thanks to him, the scourge of National Socialism was eradicated from Europe. His fatal blow on Nazi Germany not only ended World War II in Europe but also established the United States as the undisputed leader of the free world. He will be honored with a statue in the American Garden of Heroes, celebrating America’s 250th birthday.
President Eisenhower led our nation to victory, not out of a mere sense of obligation, but because he believed in America. He described himself as a “progressive conservative.” He kept the New Deal reforms set up by FDR but also ensured that the government would not grow out of control. He recognized that the strength of America is in its people, not in the size of its government.
He was also a formidable opponent of communism. His strategic foresight during the Cold War and his candid warnings about the dangers of the military-industrial complex showcased his dedication to preserving our freedoms while maintaining fiscal responsibility and governmental restraint.
Eisenhower’s mass deportation operation also serves as an example for us today. During World War II, hundreds of thousands of Mexicans were allowed into the United States to boost the economy. After the war, Eisenhower’s administration decided to send them back. In the first year of the mass deportation operation, over a million Mexican nationals were returned to their home country. During the Biden administration, illegal immigrants entered America in record numbers. Eisenhower shows us that there is something we can do about it.
President Eisenhower was a heroic wartime President and a true American patriot. He even planted the seeds for the internet by establishing ARPA, which later created ARPANET, the first version of the Internet.
