A new report from the Institute for Family Studies and the Wheatley Institute found that the ingredients for a healthy and strong marriage include shared church attendance, frequent date nights, a strong level of commitment, and protectiveness over the marriage by prioritizing loyalty and faithfulness. The study of two thousand married men and women found that the strongest predictors of feeling that one’s marriage is “highly unlikely” to end in divorce were the same predictors of being “very happy” in marriage.

So, church attendance, prioritizing the relationship, being fully committed, and protecting one’s marriage really do make a difference. During National Marriage Week, why not focus on at least one of these to improve in your marriage? And then add the others over the next several weeks and months. Doing so sets an example of God-honoring marriage to the next generation.
