Christian post reports that newly confirmed U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said in an interview last week that President Trump has asked him to “study the safety” of the abortion pill. “I think that is worth doing,” Kennedy said. The comment comes as pro-life advocates are pressuring the administration to tighten restrictions on the pill after the Biden Administration convinced the FDA to allow doctors to prescribe the pill without in-person appointments.
Kennedy also rightly condemned what he called the suppression of information about the potential harms of the drug to women. Complications, sometimes serious ones, can and do occur. Allowing this potent drug to continue to be distributed through the mail and at major retail pharmacies is reckless. An investigation into the safety of the abortion drug is clearly warranted.
