Conservative Women More Likely to Be Very Satisfied

Institute for Family Studies has found that conservative young women are 3 times as likely to report being very satisfied with life compared to liberal women. Research suggests the key reason is that liberal young women are less likely to be integrated into core the American institutions of marriage and religion. Conservative women ages 18-40 are married at rates that are 20 percentage points higher than liberal women in the same age group. Half of conservative women attend church weekly, while only twelve percent of their liberal peers do.

It’s no surprise that the happiest women are churchgoing and married, two institutions that lend meaning, direction, and a sense of solidarity to one’s life. We need to restore connection to America’s core values of faith and family to see long-term changes in women’s happiness and well-being, which will ultimately result in stronger families.
