Upon taking the oath of office, President Donald Trump did not waste even one minute in getting down to the business the American people elected him to handle. With several weeks now to analyze his initial flurry of Executive Orders and Actions, we will use the coming days to highlight several elements that will have a lasting impact on our federal governance.
The very first thing to discuss is Donald Trump’s intent to be crystal clear in word and lighting fast in action. This was obvious on Inauguration Day 2025, which was already quite unique and even a little confusing. Just days before, the event was moved indoors – allegedly due to cold temperatures, but more likely because of a combination of security concerns and last-minute meddling by the outgoing Biden administration. The crowded event in the Capitol Rotunda made for an historic and striking backdrop. Outgoing President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, along with past presidents and first ladies (of both parties), were largely in view of the camera during Trump’s Inaugural Address. This made for particularly interesting viewing when President Trump articulated bold new policies on the key issues that Americans sent him to change.
However, the primary story is that Trump isn’t all talk — his team was prepared for immediate action. They hit the ground running with dozens of executive orders, actions, and proclamations on day one. First, Trump signed several documents right there in the Capitol building, moments after his inauguration. He then signed several more later in the Capital One Arena in D.C. (to where the public’s viewing and festivities had been moved). Finally, he signed a desk full of orders in the Oval Office. Frankly, the first several weeks of the Trump Administration have been more action on behalf of traditional American values than anything we’ve witnessed in decades from either major political party. The Trump Era is upon us, and We the People are front and center.
