I’ll never forget when Phyllis Schlafly took the stage of the Peabody Opera House on March 11, 2016 in St. Louis, Missouri. She delivered what would be her most consequential political endorsement ever. Only now do we fully understand what Phyllis likely knew in that moment: that her endorsement would open the floodgates for the most impactful presidency in our nation’s history.

Standing behind a bold blue and white “TRUMP” branded podium she said: “This is the heart of America, and we are happy to welcome a really great American today.” Over the next four minutes, she delivered a scathing rebuke of what she called the “Kingmakers” – what you and I know today as the Administrative State or the Deep State. She reiterated her love for the conservative principles of the Republican Party Platform, and relayed that Donald Trump had promised her personally that he would defend them.

She concluded on that stage, “I think he has the courage and the energy – you know you have to have energy for that job – in order to bring changes and do what the grassroots want him to do, because this is a grassroots uprising. We’ve been following the losers for so long, but now we’ve got a guy who’s going to lead us to victory.”

What an astonishing nine years it’s been since that incredible moment took place today, March 11, in 2016. Phyllis Schlafly’s prescience in American politics is almost unrivaled. When she proclaimed that Trump would give us a real grassroots choice, not an echo of failed leaders, I’m sure many of us couldn’t envision what’s happening now in Trump’s second term. We should be grateful for the lessons Trump and his team learned in their first term, as well as the four years out of office.

Probably none of us, including Donald Trump, would have guessed how significantly he would change our nation and renew our Constitutional Republic. But if there’s one thing history has taught us — Phyllis Schlafly saw that future… and Phyllis was right.
