Creationists and evolutionists both agree that natural selection is a real process—we observe organisms changing over time. But these changes aren’t the same as evolution. Natural selection only works on what’s already there. It can’t add brand-new genetic information. But you need lots of brand-new information to turn a fish into a frog!
While we can agree natural selection happens and organisms do change, we disagree on how much they can change. Creationists believe organisms can only reproduce according to their kind—and that’s exactly what we observe. Cats produce cats, dogs produce dogs, and finches produce finches.
