American conservatives have long looked at the radical progressive and secular landscape of Europe and worried that our future also held the same fate. But recent years have brought a renewal of national sovereignty and traditional Christian values. It’s even reached the political ranks at top-of-the-ticket positions such as President and Prime Minister. Look to Hungary, Poland, and even Romania to see such controversies bubble up in nations that we once assumed were long abandoned to the Godless European age.
I’m here to tell you that we may be at a tipping point, and that’s thanks for the American era of Trump. The Trump Administration has been giving time, attention, and credibility to many of these nationalist, pro-Christian, pro-sovereignty political leaders.
And while the progressive media establishment has typically ridiculed it or ignored it altogether, the tide seems to be turning. An article from the Financial Times last month lamented the unraveling of the centuries-long transatlantic partnership between the US and Europe. Writer Mark Mazower argued that the current American administration has accelerated a deep and perhaps irreversible estrangement with its traditional European allies. It reads on for hundreds (thousands) of words like a funeral eulogy for the future of the European Union.
Could it be that the progressive media and foreign policy establishment are feeling the heat? Gone are the days of Obama and Biden’s groveling to the globalists, and here to stay are new traditional culture warriors. The Trump White House is intent not on “exporting America” (and raking in dollars doing it) but on saving and revitalizing the Western Civilization that is responsible for our success.
Mazower closes his article with a plea to save the post-war American influence that has long embraced the liberal ideals. The Trump-Vance administration, he says, is developing a new identity rooted in traditional religion, suspicion of the elites, and anti-globalist rhetoric.
European progressives are writing their own eulogy, which means you and I have some celebrating to do over the successful resurgence of sovereignty and traditional values returning to Europe.
