Democrat candidate for mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani, calls himself a “Democratic socialist.” Of course, democratic socialism is just code for communism, the wild economic system that thinks we can wish things into reality. History tells us that this has never worked, and millions have died as fools continue to try.
One of Mamdani’s big ideas for New York City is to offer free buses citywide. He claims eliminating fares increases ridership, reduces violence against drivers, and provides economic relief to low-income residents. However, these buses are still government-funded, leaving taxpayers to bear uncertain costs and inefficiencies inherent to public management.
Mamdani once pushed to defund the NYPD, alleging systemic racism and threats to public safety. Now he touts free buses as a tool against violence. But free transportation won’t address the root causes of crime. Instead, Mamdani proposes a Department of Community Safety, turning violent encounters into therapeutic sessions rather than actual law enforcement. The left likes this idea because it sounds good, not because it works. Linking bus fares to violence is absurdly simplistic.
Real solutions to crime aren’t found in free bus rides or defunded police forces. Effective crime reduction involves proper policing, not fare-free rides! Our police agencies must be properly funded and effectively managed. We will only achieve public safety through proactive and responsive policing, not an increase in woke social workers. Mamdani’s approach substitutes this effective policing with leftist ideology, advocating feel-good policies that fail to confront the harsh realities of crime. The free bus won’t protect bus riders. It sidesteps real issues, placing New Yorkers at greater risk.
New York City deserves an effective system of law enforcement. The right solution is the simple one. Just look at El Salvador, once the most violent country on earth, which has become safe simply by locking up the violent gangs.
If you have friends, family, or coworkers in New York City, make sure they are armed with the facts as voters head to the polls in November to decide their next mayor. America’s largest city cannot afford to install a Marxist to lead the city.
The lines have been drawn — those who support law and order, and those who don’t. Of course, criminals who burn cities and loot businesses want to defund the police.
