School has now officially started all across Wisconsin. From home schools to private schools to public schools, students are once again involved with their formal education. In 2024, 84% of school-age children in Wisconsin were in a public school, 13% were in a private school, and 3% were homeschooled. Public school enrollment in our state has been dropping every year since 2013. But even with the decline, the vast majority of school-age children here are in a public school.
Youngsters in our public schools should be given a solid education in the core academic subjects of reading, math, science, and history. To ensure this is happening, parents should be very involved in their child’s education, whether the child is in a public or a private school. No matter the educational partner, parents are responsible for the education of their children.
