Young men under 30 flipped the script in 2024, ditching Democrats to hand Republicans the White House and Congress. But the GOP’s ignoring them! These guys want a shot at college sports, and Republicans must step up—or risk losing them as a voting base.
College sports for men are dying, and it’s a travesty! Schools are slashing teams in wrestling, track, and volleyball to meet a flawed quota from the era of President Bill Clinton. His “proportionality test” demands men’s sports participation match their enrollment—often just 40% as women make up 60% of students. This kills opportunities for young men who choose college for sports, not just academics. It’s unfair and shortsighted!
Take wrestling: it’s safer than football, builds discipline, and is exploding in high schools with 300,000 boys competing—up 25% since 2022. Yet, Division I wrestling programs plummeted from 155 to 79 in the last 50 years. That’s not enough for kids dreaming of college competition! At Cleveland State, a profitable wrestling program with top GPAs got axed, leaving athletes and alumni furious. Why? Clinton’s Title IX misinterpretation forces schools to cut teams like wrestling, swimming, and baseball to hit arbitrary quotas.
However, the Trump Administration is fighting back! Last month, President Trump issued an executive order to protect non-revenue sports like wrestling, warning colleges against cuts. Also, the bipartisan SCORE Act, backed by Sens. Ted Cruz and Cory Booker, aims to save these programs. Both the executive branch and Congress must act!
But new financial pressures, like a $2.8 billion NCAA settlement, threaten more cuts. Athletic departments, already strapped, will likely ditch non-revenue men’s teams to comply with Title IX. Grand Canyon University killed its men’s volleyball program right after a Final Four run! Saint Francis, fresh off a March Madness bid, is dropping to Division III to dodge costs. This robs athletes of the chance to play for love of the game.
Young men powered the GOP’s 2024 victory. Republicans must deliver by saving men’s college sports. No more cuts—give these athletes the opportunities they deserve!
