Much has been written in the last few weeks about Charlie Kirk and his influential work through Turning Point USA. Since his assassination on September 10, we have all reflected on his incredible work: influencing hundreds of thousands of Americans through college campus tours and grassroots political gatherings. He was a voice not only for the America First political agenda, but more importantly he preached the gospel of Jesus Christ at every opportunity, speaking truthfully and gently with those who disagreed with him.

Charlie Kirk was a generational talent, and he faced a generational problem that has long been the focus of Phyllis Schlafly’s work: the radical indoctrination of America’s students. It’s a rare quality that leads someone to set up to a microphone and invite difficult conversation. Our founder Phyllis Schlafly did the same, participating in hundreds of college speeches and debates. Phyllis never shied away from difficult conversations about American politics and culture, and neither did Charlie Kirk.

Perhaps more disturbing than the assassination itself is the collective response of so leftists around the country. Many took to social media to celebrate his death – not just nobodies on the internet, but teachers, corporate leaders, and influential people. The liberal media used his murder to point to him as the source of radicalizing young people in America, not our education system or their own programming.  This devastating event has revealed the chasm that divides our nation. The radical Marxist left and their foot soldiers have strayed very far from the common values and heritage that defines America. They have been indoctrinated to hate their nation, to believe an alternate version of our history, and a warped direction we should now be pursuing. The dedicated work of Charlie Kirk, along with Phyllis Schlafly, should leave no doubt that we are certainly at war for the soul of America.

The radical left may have started this culture war, but it’s up to you and me to fight back and win it.
