President Trump recently unveiled new policies on in-vitro fertilization, or IVF, aiming to reduce treatment costs. The plan offers lower drug costs and lets employers offer stand-alone fertility benefits—but it includes no new funding or coverage requirements. While some praise this move as “pro-family,” many pro-life leaders are urging caution. IVF, as it is widely practiced, often involves creating multiple embryos, freezing and discarding many that don’t get implanted, which in essence is treating human life as a lab product rather than a sacred gift.

If we truly believe every life is made in God’s image, we cannot ignore the lives of embryos lost through IVF. As artificial reproductive technology becomes more prevalent, Christians need to have a consistent pro-life ethic that values human life from the moment of conception.
