Archeological discoveries from Bible times can help us as we study God’s Word. Here are two uses for these artifacts and texts:

  1. Providing unknown details. Archaeology gives valuable information about the customs, culture, and religions of the ancient Near East. This can enhance our understanding of the biblical text. But remember, we don’t need this information because Scripture is already clear.
  2. Helping us defend the Bible’s historicity. Many archaeological discoveries have confirmed the accuracy of what we read in the Bible.

But always remember that God’s Word stands as the authority over anything else.
