Charlotte Lozier Institute recently released a report analyzing how Safe Haven Laws have contributed to saving babies across the US. The data shows that Safe Haven Laws—state laws that give parents the option to anonymously surrender their baby, often into a ventilated and monitored baby box—have contributed to a 66.7% decrease in infanticide from 2008 to 2017. This encouraging report has prompted researchers to call for more clarity in current Safe Haven Laws to ensure all parents understand their options.

We need more Safe Haven Baby Boxes in our state and across the country to give every parent the resources and knowledge they need to choose life for their child. Last week Wisconsin had the first baby put in a baby box—and that Safe Haven Baby Box is in Racine. We look forward to more babies being rescued through this life-saving option.
