All of our major Christian doctrines are either directly or indirectly founded in the history in Genesis. Think about a big one—man’s sin condition. Why are we all sinners, facing the penalty of death?
Well, because God created a perfect world and he commanded the first two people not to eat from one specific tree. Instead of obeying their Creator, Adam and Eve chose rebellion. Their choice brought sin into the world. And with sin came death.
This history explains why no one is “basically good”—we’re all rebellious sinners because we sinned in Adam and have inherited his sin nature.
But there’s a rescue for sinners—and that’s for tomorrow.
