Can marriage just be whatever we want it to be? Our culture generally thinks so! But just because they want that to be the case, doesn’t mean it is!
You see, marriage isn’t some kind of institution humans created. God created it. In Genesis we read that God created the first man and woman and he brought them together in a unique one-flesh union. This was the first marriage, and it was designed and ordained by God.
Marriage is NOT whatever we want it to be—two men, two women, a man and multiple women, or an open relationship. Marriage is God’s institution, so only he has the authority to define it, and that definition is found in Genesis.
